The Substance, starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, first teaser


Demi Moore has spoken about filming graphic nude scenes with Margaret Qualley in their new movie, The Substance, which premiered at Cannes on May 19th. The film stars Moore as Elizabeth Sparkle, a fading Hollywood actress who undergoes a mysterious medical treatment to become a younger, better version of herself, played by Qualley. A particularly graphic scene features Moore and Qualley in a naked bloody fight.

Moore expressed comfort working with Qualley, noting their close partnership and the necessary graphic nature of the scenes. At a Cannes press conference, Moore said the film pushed her out of her comfort zone and required sensitivity in shooting. The film, written and directed by Coralie Fargeat, received a 13-minute standing ovation at the festival. Moore defended Fargeat's portrayal of toxic masculinity, clarifying they are "anti-jerks," not anti-men. Co-star Dennis Quaid echoed this sentiment, stating Fargeat dislikes "assholes," who are fun to play.

Personal Thoughts: While the trailer shows no graphic nude scenes, I believe we will see them. Looking at Margaret Qualley's recent movies, she is doing nudity in every movie now; this will be no different. A bloody naked fight scene between Demi Moore (61) will be something worth paying for.
